A series of portraitures that seeks to explore the individual's reaction to life's many uncertainties. Faced with an infinite number of choices daily, how does one progress from the Present to the Future? How does one make sense of an abstract concept amidst the surrounding chaos?
The linear view of time causes unnecessary anxiety, pressure and a division of awareness between the Present and the Future. As a function of our consciousness, how does this view affect us? What are the effects of attempting to comprehend this nonrepresentational idea, this great unknown? Caught in the flux, we are unwittingly pitted against ourselves in a temporal regress of events.
The intricate linkages between the notion of Future and Self form the basis of this experiment. I wish to create a body of work that captures my subjects' physical and emotional responses when faced with these complex issues. Through this, I seek to map out the topography of our thoughts, to form a picture of the desires and worries that drive us forward.
